Maguire Agencies is the longest established sports agency company in Ireland. For 55 years we have being supplying premium sports apparel and footwear brands to the Irish retailers making us experts in our area.
a short history
In 1961 “Maguire Agencies” began trading as a licensee and Agent for sports brands throughout Ireland. In 1964 Maguire’s became the sole distributor for Speedo swimwear for Ireland. Today it is the oldest trading Speedo suppler to retail in the world.
In 1984 Ray Maguire Jnr. joined the company. Over the past 32 years Ray continues to introduces some of the very best and exciting sports brands to the Irish Sports industry.
In 1988 we became the sole distributor for “Russell Athletic teamwear”. Acting as distributor for Russell Athletic over a 12 year period we were awarded “Global Distributor of the year” for 5 consecutive years 1990-1994.
During the 1990’s we also became agents for “Columbia Sportswear” and “Lacoste Footwear” in Ireland. Both brands became extremely successful within the Irish market under Maguire’s tenure growing both in turnover and brand visibility.
In 2000 Maguire’s became the agents for “Berghaus” the outdoor apparel and footwear brand in Ireland. This was the first time Berghaus was introduced to the Irish outdoor
market and within a short period of time became the number two outdoor brand in Ireland.
In 2005 “Mitre” equipment and apparel was introduced to the our portfolio of brands. The Agency has successfully grown the Mitre business and increased brand awareness in the Irish Sports market.
In 2012 Maguire Agencies was approached by "Under Armour” the Baltimore based athletic sports brand to become their partner of choice. Maguire’s now act as “Under Armour’s” agent for all key sports independents, run specialists and outdoor retailers within the 32 counties of Ireland.
In 2014 we were presented with a 50 years long services award for the Speedo brand by Steven Rubin owner of “Pentland Brands”. 2015 saw Maguire Agencies sign a new 5 year contract to act as Speedo’s brand partner of choice until 2020.
2018 was a momentous year in the history of Maguire Agencies with the introduction of the Canterbury Sportswear and Teamwear brand. 2018 also saw the reintroduction after 10 years of absence of the Berghaus outdoor apparel and footwear brand.
With the new additions of Canterbury and Berghaus to the already established Mire and Speedo brands saw the completion of Maguire Agencies and Pentland Active Brands new partnership, the company now represent all of Pentland active brands for the North and South of Ireland.
The company today represents three successful and respected brands “Speedo”, “Mitre” and “Under Armour” for the North and South of Ireland.

The Team
Ray Maguire and Paul Brady are the directors and owners of Maguire Agencies Ltd.
Ray with his 32 years experience working in the sports industry has an in-depth knowledge of all areas of the performance and fashion sports brands. He is responsible for the introduction of many of the well known sports and outdoor brands that exist in the Irish market today.
Paul began his career as a professional footballer with Aston Villa. In 1993 Paul became manager of one of Lifestyle Sports key stores in Dublin. In 1998 Paul joined the Maguire Team and became key account manager. Paul’s in-depth knowledge of the sports industry coupled with his great working relationships with both retailers and suppliers, has resulted in the substantial growth of Maguire’s business. In 2009 Paul became co-owner of Maguire Agencies when the company transformed from a distribution company to a specialised agency based business.
